This is an on-call ECE assistant position that assists with City wide coverage for licensed and non-licensed preschool programs by acting as an instructional and environmental support within the classroom. You will have a strong base in child development and early education theories and practices as well as knowledge of emergent curriculum and goals of developmental stages. You will also have opportunities to participate in planning and delivering of peer based training.

Your duties will encompass teaching, supporting, facilitating, planning, evaluation and delivery of preschool programs in multiple locations and responding to coverage needs throughout the City. You will work collaboratively with coworkers and parents to address and meet the full range of children’s diverse developmental needs and aspirations.
You are able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with peers, supervisors and families. You have the ability to work independently and are experienced in balancing needs within a diverse environment.

As an Early Childhood Assistant, you will hold an Early Childhood Education certificate with valid license to assist, current First Aid and CPR C. You must be familiar with the Reggio Emilia approach on preschool education. You must be able to demonstrate a continued search of knowledge in the ECE field and continual study of emergent and best practices. You have related work experience in a majority of the above areas and you are able to demonstrate this through your accomplishments and resume.

Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in (TH) located in Dawson City Yukon, is a dynamic forward thinking Self Governing First Nation with strong cultural values. Reporting to Chief and Council, the Executive Director is responsible for leading, planning, managing and implementing Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in programs, services and policies. The position is also responsible for the provision of administrative expertise and overall direction to Senior Managers including the Directors of Finance, Housing and Capital, Heritage, Trinke Zho, Human Resources, Natural Resources, Communications, Information Technologies, Implementation and the Managers of Health Programs, Social Programs and Education programs.

The position is responsible for monitoring and ensuring that Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in programs remain within established budgets by maintaining a close working relationship with the Departmental Directors and Chief and Council. The position is also responsible for effective liaison, on behalf of Chief and Council, with officials of the Federal, Territorial, Provincial Governments and other agencies in support of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in goals and objectives.

Essentials
• Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field combined with experience working with First Nation governments, preferably at a senior level;

• Ability to plan, lead, direct, develop, implement and evaluate programs, policies and procedures;
• Experience in conflict management, mediation and problem solving;

• Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with staff, citizens and the general public;
• Ability to provide strong leadership and motivate people with tact, diplomacy and good judgment.

Assets
• Sound knowledge of TH social structure, traditions and cultural values;
• Sound knowledge of government program requirements and specifically, First Nation government program requirements, TH Final and Self Government agreements;
• Knowledge of Federal and Territorial Government programs, regulations and procedures;
• Good knowledge of funding agencies and associated requirements;
