We have been serving individuals with disabilities since 1978 to live full, productive and meaningful lives. This service philosophy gives the Community Living Society the opportunity to be a leader in providing innovative, quality residential and vocational services, which allow people to reach their greatest potential. We have over 450 employees and serve over 260 individuals throughout the Lower Mainland.
What I'm looking for. . .
A family home in Upper Fraser (Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack or Mission). I do not enjoy loud noise so I would appreciate a home that does not have young children. I am an artist and enjoy showing off my artistic endeavours. I enjoy many activities such as reading, computer time, going to the library and learning life skills to help me become more independent. I am looking for a family who would enjoy helping me reach my goals.
You have. . .
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, behavioural challenges and/or high medical needs. Some related work experience or post secondary education is an asset, such as formal education in the areas of support worker training and life skills instruction. An ability to learn body language and other augmentative communication as well as consistency in behavioural support is required. Being energetic and role-modeling a healthy, positive lifestyle is required as well as being responsible, flexible, respectful and sensitive and having a sense of humour. Excellent communication skills, (written, oral and interpersonal) are essential for becoming a home share provider.
Desired skills and abilities include: teaching, guiding and coaching skills; crisis prevention and intervention; knowledge of mental health issues; medication administration; health care skills; ability to instruct on daily living, and personal care.
