Amazon Web Services is looking for a software engineer to join our network security software team. Our projects include massively scaleable distributed systems that provide inexpensive, reliable, global infrastructure services. This is an opportunity to join a world class team and build the network security tools we use to support AWS offerings such as EC2, S3, CloudFront, and SimpleDB.

You should be somebody who enjoys working on systems software, is customer- centric, and feels strongly not only about building good software but also about running that software in the real world. You must enjoy a close-knit team environment of shared responsibility.

As a member of this team you will be responsible for the development of network monitoring, data mining and system analysis tools which allow AWS to detect and defend against malicious internet traffic.

You will be involved from inception to deployment and beyond, for interacting with our customers and gathering requirements, to supporting the product operationally.

The ideal candidate will have distributed systems and network security experience. You should have a thorough understanding of Internet protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP and experience implementing servers using Java in a Linux/Unix environment.

- BS in computer science or or equivalent – Experience developing software in a UNIX/Linux environment – Expert OO programming skills in Java or C++ – Excellent communication and analytic skills – Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, UDP, TCP and BGP – MS or PhD preferred

Internships or projects : – Designed and built large scale network security systems including traffic analysis, DDoS prevention, intrusion detection, or network filtering. – Designed and built large scale distributed systems such as DNS or web services. – Knowledge of data mining methods – Knowledge of mathematical data treatment – Perl – Python
