Natural Resources Policy Analyst (Term -- 4 years)

Reporting to the Director of Natural Resources, this position takes the lead role in the development and recommendation of land, resources, fish and wildlife management policies/legislation, and policy/legislation development strategies, leads public consultation on policy/legislation development processes, leads policy/legislation consultation on affected changes developed by other governments, conducts research and analysis into policy/legislation options and land, resources, fish and wildlife management issues, provides technical advice and policy/legislation support to the Land and Resources Branch and Fish and Wildlife Branch operational processes, coordinates Lands and Resources and Fish and Wildlife Branches input to intergovernmental strategic/programs, land use planning and resource management processes and supports management of transition issues that influence the delivery of client services in a timely fashion.

Essentials
• Bachelor of Arts, Major in Political Science, English or Renewable Resources post-secondary studies and the equivalent in training and experience;
• Excellent knowledge of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in land, resources, fish and wildlife issues affecting all Yukon First Nation People;
• Experience in legal and regulatory development and implementation;
• Knowledge of municipal, territorial and national political issues and their impact on Yukon First Nations;
• Knowledge of Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in culture, language, demographics and aspirations;
• Knowledge of Yukon First Nation final and self-government agreements, the specials provisions in the agreements and the First Nations Implementation process to date;
• Knowledge of the process of law making and development of policy and other legal and regulatory measures;
• Commitment to the term of this position is a requirement.
Assets
• Excellent organizational and time management skills;
• Strong self, and team management skills, with the ability to manage stress effectively;
• Conflict resolution and mediation skills with the ability to recommend suitable alternatives;
• Excellent research and report writing skills;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
