DIRECTOR OF MANUFACTURING (Vancouver)

Our client is seeking a Director of Manufacturing for to lead its’ operations in the Lower Mainland.
Salary $100,000+ (Negotiable)
Responsibilities Include:
*Develop a Lean Manufacturing strategy for manufacturing, assembly and OTD *Lead manufacturing & OTD activities for all products while supporting the development of new products. *Establish and improve manufacturing and assembly processes and procedures *Represent the manufacturing group in cross-functional product development and product improvement and ensure that products meet quality, cost and delivery objectives and requirements *Manage cost reduction and process improvement initiatives using such tools as DFMA *Develop strategy and approach for appropriate inventory management *Develop the documentation necessary to provide quality and trace-ability of manufactured and assembled components and systems and ensuring compliance to regulatory bodies and standards *Report and track NCR’s and follow-up on short term and long term corrective actions *Specify equipment and facilities to support product delivery for current and future requirements *Work closely with supply chain groups to ensure appropriate selection of manufacturing partners and suppliers & manage external supplier partners *Participate in establishing strategic objectives and setting corporate direction *Provide departmental overview to existing and potential company stakeholders *Establish group objectives, priorities and milestones, mentor manufacturing group & establish standard training regime for new employees *Be a contributor to the development of corporate strategy
Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications required:
Education Requirements: *P. Eng., Mechanical Engineer or similar *Manufacturing Engineer designation preferred
Other Qualifications required: *10 years experience in a manufacturing and production environment, including product development, commercialization, commissioning and operational leadership *Experience with fabrication, machining and assembly of mechanical equipment is mandatory *Knowledge of DFMA, DFMEA, PFMEA, concurrent engineering and other design tools & techniques *Strong understanding of manufacturing principles such as Lean and TOC (value stream mapping, pull systems, 5S, SMED, level loading) and ability to apply in different manufacturing situations *Strong project management background & effective problem solving skills. *Experience in skid assembly of powertrain and rotating equipment is an asset *Track record in implementing Lean Manufacturing tools & ability to manage multiple projects
