Java Game Developer
Footprints Productions Ltd. is creating a new social experience and is seeking a few funky, talented, go-getters: people who can code out a new social experience into a technological architecture.
Description
With an exceptional knowledge of the company's strategic business plans, you will develop and maintain the high-level software, its design plans, and implementation strategies for the overall game development. You will provide technical and coding leadership and consultations across the organization, from the strategic decision-making down to the project planning level. Being a team leader you will gain collaborations for all high-level infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans. As a Software Engineer, you will also strategically evaluate software designs and architectures, collaborate to ensure that departmental objectives and operating requirements are met, and ensure that your concepts and goals are communicated and congruent to the needs and mission of the organization.
Working Relationships
You will work directly with the President, our senior staff, your colleagues, and our end users to implement, analyze, and improve overall organizational policies, procedures, and priorities, while analyzing the implications of proposed actions and decisions on the whole of the organization. This includes defining business requirements for complex code development, reviewing game development architectures and systems designs, and planning for compliance with software standards.

Document, develop, and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the company's strategic and development plans, as well as develop program logic. .
Maintain and modify programs; make approved changes by amending flow charts, develop detailed programming logic, and coding changes.
Test and develop programming modifications. .
Develop, document, communicate, and enforce technology standards policies. .
Evaluate simple interrelationships between programs. .
Develop and execute test plans to check software infrastructure, code, and game performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement. .
Code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware and software technology. .
Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members. .
Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility. .
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree and 3-6 years of game development and software engineering using Java and Java API. .
Experience using and managing MySQL databases through Java and traditional means. .
Previous experience in MMOG software development, using LWJGL and openGL. .
Experience in Social Media API's, specifically Facebook API's. iPhone, iPad, and Android an asset. .
A passion about Social Media and a broad knowledge base of MMOSGs is expected. .
A natural talent to rapidly learn and assimilate new technologies. .
Positive, professional attitude. Disciplined and self-motivated with strong work ethics. .
Ability to work from home and desire to travel essential. Willingness to relocate an asset. .
Skills
Individual must be a strong communicator and have good written, presentation, oral communications, and interpersonal skills. .
Individual must clearly understand the MMOG infrastructure, possess strong collaborative skills, be able to motivate and influence others, and adapt quickly to a changing work environment. .
Individual must be a forward thinker, be able to think creatively and strategically, be excellent at problem solving, and have excellent judgment skills.
Consequences of Error
This position has responsibilities for working with executives, liaisons, and senior volunteers to develop and implement social and IT strategies and approaches. Poor accountability, inappropriate procedures, incorrect information, lack of foresight or diplomacy could adversely affect relations with the organization's stakeholders, cause embarrassment to the organization and its senior officials and volunteers, or result in a loss of credibility.

Nov 1, 2011; Duration 2 years with 3 months trial period.

Compensation:
2 year contract (Year 1: $60K-$98K; Year 2: $75K-$120K) with 3 months trial ($15K-$22K).
