Outreach and Community Development Program Supervisor (Vancouver )

Job Summary: part time position for 21 hours per week to develop an Outreach and Community Development strategy for JFSA.
Primary focus: alignment with strategic objectives to outreach to the suburbs and niche target segments of the Jewish Community.
Secondary Focus: To provide support and supervision to the Special Needs, Food Bank, Young Family Resource Centre.
Role and Responsibilities
Outreach and Community Development
1. Utilize data from Synagogue and Suburban study to focus on Outreach and Community Development.
2. Develop contacts with key stakeholders from outlying areas: professionals, Rabbis, educators and donors.
3. Develop "Community conversations" in various areas: Richmond, West and North Vancouver and other outlying communities.
4. Develop "Community conversations" with various niche target segments of the Jewish Community: young adults (individuals, couples and families), special needs (individuals and families), GLBT community (individuals, couples and families), unaffiliated and interfaith couples and families, and single parent families.
5. Develop programs and services as directions become clear and funding becomes available. This can be accomplished in concert with existing agency programs or in collaboration with other agencies.
Support and Supervision
1. Supervise Special Needs Coordinator.
2. Supervise Food Bank Coordinator.
3. Supervise Family Resource Outreach Coordinator.
4. Supervise additional "area" or "service" coordinators as positions are funded.
Coordinate with JFSA Staff
1. Annual JFSA Expo (Community Spotlight event).
2. Family Life Education programs, seminars and workshops.
3. Offer Community wide programs directed toward outreach and service enhancement and front of mind JFSA efforts to enhance outreach and service delivery.
Other
1. Individual should be flexible to work from 3 to 5 days per week over one to three year period.
2. Individual should have specific Outreach and Community development experience.
3. Individual should be Jewish and have some experience working in the Jewish Community.
4. Ability to engage "partners" internally and externally.
5. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is a must.
Qualifications
1. MSW (Community Organization); MPA or other Master's level equivalent.
2. 2-4 years of experience.
3. Access to vehicle and valid BC driver's license a must.
4. Cell phone required.
5. Ability to work effectively with Facebook and WEB-applications.
6. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is a must.
Other: Position is 21 hours per week Excellent salary and benefit package (vacation, statutory and Jewish holidays, RRSP (after 1 year), mileage,cell phone related expenses)
