Addictions Support Worker (Ocean Park)

Title: Addictions Support Worker
Terms of Employment: Part time, Full time, Shift, Weekday, Weekend, Day, Evening and Overnight
Salary: To be negotiated
Anticipated Start Date: November 1, 2011
Location: Ocean Park, South Surrey, British Columbia (vacancies: 2 Full time, 4 Part time)
Skill Requirements:
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College diploma in human services related discipline. (would be an asset)
• Specific education in the field of addictions (would be an asset).
• A variety of experience and education may be considered.
Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.):
• Community Support Worker (CSW) diploma
• Medication Administration Certificate
• Valid Occupational First Aid Certificate level 1 (or willingness to obtain shortly after hire)
Experience: Previous experience in Addictions treatment is an asset. A sound working knowledge or experience in the Twelve Steps of Recovery.
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English.
Work Setting: Private Male Resident Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centre
Target Groups or Clients: Adult Male
Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written reporting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and work effectively with others.
• Knowledge of theory, principles and practices working with alcohol and drug addictions.
• Excellent organization, time and house management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism at all times.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to be solution focused and approach problems with flexibility and creativity.
Responsibilities: Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories.
Effectively resolve conflict situations, manage aggressive behaviour, and implement substance abuse treatment programs.
Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities, Housekeeping activities, Security and Safety, Marketing skills, Excellent attendance and work record at past employment, Computer literacy.
Additional Requirements: Must have a valid BC driver's license with proof of safe driving record and pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
