Position:
deviantART is looking to hire a talented software engineer to join our search and infrastructure team. You will get to work on exciting projects ranging from developing new technologies for searching and indexing massive databases of imagery to creating tools that recommend personalized art feeds. Responsibilities:
-Participate in the design, development, deployment and ongoing management, troubleshooting, automation and monitoring of core backend infrastructure that form the foundation of deviantART production search, recommendation and personalization engines and other backend systems
-Understand design, implementation, configuration and operation of all software components that form a complete end-to-end system
-Focus on scaling horizontally, work on improvements in software scalability, performance and reliability

Your Background:
-Expert knowledge of following languages: C++, Java
-Prefer experience in coding and debugging in one or more scripting languages: PHP, Shell, Python, Perl, Ruby
-Some experience with Solr, Lucene, Hadoop/Hbase/Pig or other search and indexing and Mapreduce implementations
-Exposure to Machine Learning, Informational Retrieval Algorithms, TF-IDF, Taxonomy Building, Language Processing (Artificial + Natural) is a plus
-Strong Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, ideally with working with very large data stores
-Experience with systems architectures, filesystems, distributed systems. Experience building, configuring, maintaining and monitoring specialized *nix services and daemons
-Proven ability to rapidly learn new systems and unfamiliar technologies
-5 years of software development experience in team based environments
-A degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or equivalent experience
