full time Human Resources Advisor - KAMLOOPS (KAMLOOPS)

A company, located in Kamloops, is looking for a Human Resources Advisor to join their team on a temporary, 9-12 month contract. The successful candidate will act as a consultative partner by providing HR generalist expertise, analysis and advice related to performance management, coaching, recruitment and selection, employee relations, conflict resolution, classification, salary administration, training and HR related legislation. This role will proactively resolve complex human resources issues and will demonstrate innovative thinking by researching, analysing and preparing recommendations as it relates to HR initiatives and programs. The Human Resources Advisor will partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that HR policies, programs, services and strategies are supported and maintained in an ongoing and consistent manner throughout the company.

The primary duties and responsibilities will include the following:
• Proactively assess and anticipate client needs by building strong partnerships with leaders and employees to understand their business needs, objectives and challenges
• Provide coaching, guidance and advice to managers and employees in maintaining and promoting an effective employee relations program including performance management, attendance management and conflict resolution
• Collaborate with other HR team members to design, develop and deliver people strategies to meet the needs of the business
• Proactively develop, maintain and manage strong working relationships with various internal stakeholders, in addition to various vendors, suppliers, service providers and regulatory bodies in order to communicate appropriate messages regarding Human Resources' strategies
• Provide formal leadership, supervision, coaching and mentoring to department staff and model leadership behaviours that support staff engagement


The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
• A degree and diploma in a related discipline supplemented by industry recognized professional courses
• Minimum 3-5 years of recent, related professional experience in Human Resources; supervisory experience an asset
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
• CHRP designation, an asset
• Demonstrated ability to build strong and trusting relationships with executive, managers, employees and peers
• Skilled in conducting needs assessments through interviews, focus groups or informal one on one conversation to understand goals, challenges and possible interventions
• Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of human resources
• Proven leadership, coaching and motivational skills
• Possess initiative and respond on a proactive basis, anticipating needs
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, including excellent customer service
• Ability to use judgement and discretion, in particular relating to the resolution of employee issues
• Excellent organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail, project management skills, and the ability to meet tight timeframes and commitments, and be accountable for results
• Strong business acumen, with a results-oriented focus
• Able to work independently and within a team environment
• Loyal to the belief of continuous improvement and driven to question and improve processes, systems, practices as appropriate
• Strong ability to maintain confidentiality, possesses diplomacy and tact
• Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite and software

Compensation for this position will be the equivalent of $56,000 - $76,500 per year, plus a 6% biweekly paycheque, in lieu of vacation and extended health and dental after 3 months.
