The Employment Specialist is responsible for coordinating and assisting in job search and job placement for students, arranging and monitoring practicum placements for students, maintaining confidential client and referral records, delivering and/or coordinating presentations/workshops and seminars as appropriate to the position. The Employment Specialist is also in charge of evaluating and resolving student inquiries, issues and problems and ensure appropriate actions taken to the satisfaction of the student, Company and/or regulatory agencies in compliance with policies, procedures and legal requirements.
General Qualification
Competencies:
To be successful in the Employment Specialist role, the individual must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following:
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
• Excellent organizational, time management skills and ability to multi-task
• Excellent leadership and management skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office 2007 including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to develop networks and maintain contacts within the business community
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Good judgment and ability to prioritize assignments
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods
• Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service
Education and Experience:
• A Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Specific Responsibilities
The Employment Specialist will at various times be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of CDI College.
• Achieve targeted minimum placement rate as set by Corporate Director of Career Services.
• Maintain and establish contacts with local employers to obtain information on job opportunities, and develop and enhance working relationships and to facilitate student placement
• Maintain a database of employment possibilities and resources library including career guidance references, employment literature and related information.
• Assist all qualified graduates in their job seeking efforts by conducting workshops in resume and portfolio development, career goals and assessment, interviewing techniques and personal appearance
• Secure and monitor practicum placements for all qualified students
• Ensure that all placements related data is entered unto the Company designated electronic record keeping system on an accurate and timely basis
• Occasional instruction of the Soft Skills course
