Overview:
The Application Analyst will be responsible for working with a team within the Planning & Development department on a variety of technology initiatives over the coming years including its enterprise application system, AMANDA.
Under general direction, they will use applicable business systems and industry methodologies to develop comprehensive Business Systems requirements, Q/A and Testing deliverables, as well as work with Development staff in producing design specifications.
Scope of Work:
- Work closely with business clients to develop a strong working relationship so as to understand their business needs and to effectively articulate and advocate for these needs.
- Work with Development staff to transcribe the requirements into technical solutions.
- Develop Business and Functional requirements documentation.
- Perform appropriate QA & Testing on developed solutions.
- Provide recommendations on change to business methods/processes, as well as technical solutions where applicable.
- Develop and deliver training modules to Internal staff.
- Develop other relevant documentation for each project.
- Assisting with maintenance and support activities for projects.
Key skills required:
- Strong Business Analyst / Consulting acumen for working with business clients at a variety of levels within the organization.
- Thrive in a team environment while taking accountability for individual deliverables.
- Able to multi-task responsibilities on several projects at any given time, and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience as a Business Analyst in small to large-scale projects, and some experience with associated project methodologies and deliverables within the Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, or RAD context.
- A self-starter with a strong willingness to learn.
- Good problem solving abilities and being able to think outside the box.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Educational/Experience Required:
The successful candidate will have a degree or diploma in Business Administration/Commerce (preferably in Management Information Systems), plus 1 to 3 years of direct experience (may include co-op education experience) in a Business Analyst/Consultant role.
