Switchboard Operator

The Switchboard Operator is responsible for operating the RCMP switchboard within the Operation Communications Centre and responds to a wide range of general enquires and non emergency calls.
This position is responsible for receiving and transcribing information from the general public and directing calls to the appropriate section in a prompt, accurate and courteous manner. The position is also responsible for performing general reception duties, including operating a fax machine, maintaining phone and address lists, paging, data entry and other clerical duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by business courses and a minimum of one year's full-time switchboard experience. An accurate typing speed of 45 WPM is required.
This position requires shift work with rotating days off (4 on 2 off) as follows:
7:30am to 3:45pm and 3:45pm to 12:00am.
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain the relevant level of RCMP Security Clearance.
