Part-time Position (starting ASAP) 8 hours per week
Guildford Family Resource Program

The Guildford Family Resource Program (GFRP) supports young children and their parents and caregivers through drop in play groups, early literacy and other community based services. The Cook plans shops for and prepares nutritious snacks and meals for the parents and children attending the Guildford Family Resource Program. (GFRP)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans and prepares nutritious meals for the parents/caregivers and children attending the Guildford Family Resource Program according to the Canada Food Guide. Ensures the ingredients and menu is posted prior to meals for the participants to view.
• Ensures all food preparation meet Food Safety regulations, and adheres to the GFRP Food Safety Plan and Fraser Health Authority regulations.
• Maintains a weekly list of nutritional and kitchen supplies, and is responsible for the shopping.
• Responsible for the kitchen to be kept clean and safe according to the Food Safety Plan prior and after meal preparation.
• Help parents/caregivers increase their knowledge of cooking and food preparation for themselves and their children. This may include assisting to plan a community kitchen.
• Assist with the daily cleaning of the drop-in and laundry as needed.
• Follow written and verbal directives from the immediate supervisor, Programs Manager, Deputy Director Executive Director or designate.
• Follow the Child Abuse Protocol and General Safety Guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A combination of relevant training, education and experience.
• Food Safe Certificate
• Experience in planning and preparing meals for large groups
• Knowledge of nutrition
• Current Level 1 First Aid an asset
• Second language an asset
• Must have a driver’s license and access to a car.
• Crisis Line training an asset.

  • An eligibility list will be maintained for up to 6 months.
