Position Title: YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER
Location: Iron Horse Youth Safe House, Maple Ridge, B.C.
Starting Date: October 1, 2011
Ending Date: Contract ends March 31, 2012, subject to renewal
Status: CASUAL/ON CALL
Shift Schedule: Must be available for weekends/overnights
Reports To: Youth Worker Supervisor, IHYSH

Job Summary:
• To provide a therapeutic daily living environment for the residents of the Iron Horse Youth Safe House.
• To provide and maintain a safe supportive environment in a residential setting that is culturally open and accessible to all youth.
• To support the personal development the youth living in the Iron Horse Youth Safe House
• To perform all duties in accordance with the Mission, Values, Vision, Purpose and Policies and Procedures of the Iron Horse Youth Safe House and the Alouette Home Start Society
Required Education, Training & Experience:
• Child Care Diploma / Certificate or related University Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in child and youth care, or a combination of education and experience with street-involved youth preferred
• Awareness of community resources, services, and systems.
• Good working knowledge of computer systems and programs
• Current First Aid & CPR Level C Certification
• Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
• Current Food Safe Certification
