Wills and Estates Paralegal - International Firm (Vancouver)

Join a leading Canadian business law and litigation firm as a Wills & Estates Paralegal.
Standard Responsibilities:
Working independently in conjunction with the firm's estate planning group and representing the firm in a professional, courteous and knowledgeable manner, the duties include:
• Prepare probate and administrative application documents (subject to lawyer supervision);
• Supervise processes and procedures relating to estate administration;
• Acts as primary liaison with the Probate Registry, Public Guardian and Trustee's Office and other government agencies;
• Prepare standard wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, and probate (subject to lawyer supervision);
• Maintain wills and documents vault and record books for trusts;
• Conduct and report on title, wills notice and other searches;
• Assist in the ongoing development of, and maintain, precedent system;
• File wills notices, arrange publication of notices to creditors and related tasks;
• Participate in client interviews and attend to execution of documents by clients;
• Other administrative support as required.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess:
• Minimum 5 years' paralegal experiences in Wills and Estates Administration;
• Experience in dealing directly with Probate Registry and Public Guardian and Trustee's office;
• Working knowledge of relevant legislation, Supreme Court Rules, and Probate Registry practice and procedures;
• Strong document productions skills, including working knowledge of MS Word, Visio and Excel;
• Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate in a professional, mature and courteous manner;
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion;
• A certificate/diploma from an accredited Paralegal program would be an asset;
• Paralegal experience in any of: family law, litigation, general corporate and/or real estate (specific real estate experience is a definite asset).
Candidates must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and also in team situations, have a high degree of initiative and self-motivation and excellent interpersonal skills. Must also display diplomacy, tact and maintain confidentiality.
