Senior Labour/Employee Relations Advisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of HR, you will be responsible for providing Human Resource leadership and consultation services to all levels of the organization. As the successful candidate you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a passion for labour relations and have previous experience in a unionized environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
? Provides advice to managers and supervisors in the day-to-day interpretation, application and administration and of the collective agreement and company polices.
? Acts as a Business Partner to management with the early identification and resolution of employee relations issues.
? Promotes, encourages and fosters a positive and cooperative Labour Relations environment amongst Union, management and employee groups.
? Up to date with Labour law, legislative change, arbitration cases, Union issues and structures, and other major events/ matters with potential major ER/LR impacts.
? Manages the company's performance management process and makes recommendations on employee relations issues.
? Leads the investigation process on all employee relations investigations and provides recommendations to management.
? Manages the Disability Management process and partners with employees and managers on Return to Work programs.
? Co-Chair of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee and leads the development of Occupational Health & Safety programs and initiatives.
? Plans, develops and implements new strategies and processes for improved Human Resources relations and consultation in accordance with business interests and objectives.
? Other projects/duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
? Minimum 3-5 years experience in Labour Relations. Experience as a HR Generalist in a unionized environment is desired.
? Degree and or a diploma in Human Resources and/or Industrial Relations or equivalent
? CHRP designation is an asset
? Demonstrated understanding and in depth knowledge of Labour unions, knowledge of Human Resources / Labour Relations related Canadian federal and provincial laws.
? Demonstrated ability to analyze complex LR issues and to provide sound, reasoned and reliable advice to HR, managers and key stakeholders.
? Proven superior customer service experience is a must
? Demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain positive and beneficial relationships with Bargaining Agents, Union officials and representatives.
? Excellent planning, organizational, issues management and expediting skills
? Excellent oral, written, negotiation, influencing, presentation, communications and interpersonal skills;
? Ability to maintain integrity of confidential information
? Strong coaching and conflict resolution skills.
? Ability to work on one or more projects at one time, prioritize tasks and manage time wisely
