Title: Senior Underwriter (Commercial Property / Casualty)

The successful candidate will be responsible for profitably underwriting and growing a complex Property & Casualty portfolio as part of our western regional underwriting team. This position is suitable for an enthusiastic team player that will complement our strong underwriting team.

What you will achieve in this role:
• Manage, underwrite and develop a complex Property/Casualty portfolio to achieve satisfactory profitability goals;
• Maintain and develop favorable relationships with our National and Regional brokers;
• To solicit and review new and renewal submissions;
• To review and analyze policy coverage and claims experience;
• To ensure underwriting files are well documented and compliant with Corporate guidelines;
• Be part of the annual planning and budgeting process
• Respond to and resolve broker inquiries in line with customer service standards.
• Underwrite a profitable book of new and renewal business in accordance with Corporate guidelines.
• To have a thorough knowledge of current market wordings
• Interpret loss control reports and develop internal capacity.
What you bring to this role:
• 7+ years property/casualty experience and basic knowledge in liability and boiler underwriting
• Post-secondary education and working toward a CIP designation
• Solid knowledge & awareness of market conditions & trends
• Strong communication and negotiating skills
• Positive attitude that embraces change
• Excellent computer skills
• Proven organizational and time management skills
