Requirements:
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be thoroughly computer and tech savvy
- Experience in printing/publishing or knowledge of the forest industry preferred but not required

The Task
After over two decades of a close working relationship, this tight-knit e-publishing company is losing its current Market Analyst / Editor. This is your opportunity to job shadow her for approximately five hours per week on Thursday mornings.
- You will learn the avenues of researching facts through interviews and auxiliary publications. In addition, you will sort rumours and opinions advanced by expert sources within the lumber business each week.
- As you grow into this position, you will add your insights, crafting fascinating new angles on the lumber market and what makes it run.
- one hour of mentoring by the publisher to learn the process of creating each weekly e-publication. The e-newsletter goes globally to paying subscribers mid-day each Friday, Vancouver time.
In addition to the five hours with our Market Analyst / Editor, your internship week will include an additional ten hours per week (whenever you are available) including:
- you will also get to know our other publications through approximately nine hours of contacting individual mills across North America to update our database, to be done at your convenience through the work week.
Internship / training period will likely last four months.
This opportunity is ideal for an enthusiastic person who thrives in a professional publishing environment. Following the four month training period, this internship would become a paid contract position. There are significant other opportunities for the appropriate candidate, including: marketing the company at conferences and trade shows; and business management to increase company revenue by capitalizing on our extensive, proprietary database.
This publication is part of Canadian history, having offered lumber market information to our subscribers weekly since 1952. The Madison’s brand is well known and respected.
