Technical Support Engineer
ActiveState, the dynamic language experts, is offering a unique opportunity to be a part of our small, growing, vibrant company. We’re looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join us for a full-time position in our Vancouver office.
You should have at least 1 year of experience in a support, testing or related position, and should already have working knowledge of Dynamic Language technologies such as Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby and Tcl. You thrive in a fun and fast paced environment and have great communication skills.
Responsibilities:
. Provide Technical support and testing in an open source environment
. Execute quality assurance testing for ActiveState's multi-language, cross-platform development tools and language distributions
. Manage online support and community involvement
. Provide administration of Linux/Unix dev and test systems
Requirements:
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
. Minimum one year of experience working in software QA, support or related environments
. Technical knowledge of Linux, Mac OS X and Windows environments
. Hands on experience with Perl, Python, Tcl and/or Ruby
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
. Experience with ticket tracking systems and QA processes
. Experience with virtualization software (e.g. VMware, VirtualBox)
. Intermediate scripting/dynamic language skills
. Network administration experience
. Able to independently research problems and present solutions to the team
Work Environment: We’re on the top floor of the United Kingdom building in downtown Vancouver. We have an amazing view of the water and north shore mountains and, an open concept office, complete with a stocked kitchen, a beer fridge and a playroom!
