Linux Systems Administrator - Bermuda
Our client is one of Bermuda's premier ISP's and telecommunications companies. In response to the demands of their growing business, we are seeking a motivated individual to join their dynamic company in the position of Technical Solutions Specialist - Systems Administrator.
Working in a team-oriented ISP and telecommunications environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties including:
-Server support and maintenance (Web, Mail, DNS, Authentication)
-Application implementation and testing
-Security administration
-Monitoring performance of working systems, improving efficiency/ease of use, product testing, system upgrades
-Resolving application errors
-Vendor correspondence and coordinating the scheduling of sub contractors/vendors
-Providing support for internal Windows environment
-Providing superior customer service (either on site or over telephone
-Follow-up to assure total satisfaction through testing and feedback
-Working concurrently on several projects with minimum supervision
We are seeking as much as possible of the following in a preferred candidate:
-A degree/diploma in Computer Science or equivalent
-A minimum of 3 years experience working in a corporate environment providing support for Linux systems
-Prior experience in an ISP/Telecommunications environment preferred
-Recognized industry certifications would be an asset (Cisco/Microsoft/Unix/etc.)
-Excellent customer service skills and a quality of service orientation
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
in depth technical knowledge of the following:
-CentOS operating system
-Mail Services (SMTP, POP3, IMAP)
-Web Services (MS IIS, Apache)
-SQL Scripting/Queries and database normalization
-Authentication Services (LDAP,RADIUS)
-DNS Services (BIND)
-Scripting (Shell and Perl)
-SAN administration
-Networking knowledge a plus
-Knowledge of PHP a bonus
-Must be able to work well under pressure and within time constraints
