Information Technology Manager (Burnaby)

We are seeking an Information Technology Leader to be based at our office in Burnaby, BC.. The IT Leader will be responsible for IT Operations Solutions and to ensure system availability through seamless IT processes from concepts through to implementation and ongoing support. This position provides hands on service to users and maintains the performance targets of the systems through regular monitoring and tuning activities.
Role:
• This role is suitable for someone who is growing in the IT field, and wants to grow the IT division with the growth of the company
• It is a mid level position encompassing basic to mid level responsibilities and duties.
• At this point, our IT department is solely handled by the IT Leader
• May work with IT vendors/consultants as required and oversee their work
Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with GGI corporate IT policies, procedures and standards.
• Own and manage the IT Service Desk including all trouble calls and incident management
• Installing, Configuring and Supporting VOIP, VPN, remote sites, routers, switches, firewalls and evaluating third-party tools
• Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
• Determines optimum system configuration (software/hardware). Analyzes the vendor changes and enhancements to software by assessing the impact on existing production systems, operating procedures and data backup.
• Provide strong technical leadership & training to staff
• Manages all mobile devices and peripheral for the organization
• Asset Management, Procure hardware, software and IT services
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:
• Solid Administration skills in VoIP, TCP/IP, DNS & DHCP, Security, Microsoft Server 2003-2008
• Solid technical understanding of SAN, VMware, and DRP.
• Experience with hardware and software procurement and managing vendor relationships.
• Experience with configuring and repairing all network devices
• Strong organizational / project management skills.
• Ability to champion process improvement initiatives
Education:
• Degree in Computer Science or related area
• Certifications recognized
• Business administration skills
• Experience in IT in a manufacturing environment would be extremely beneficial.
• Experience with IT practices related to controlled data , SQL and other Database
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
