Settlement Program Assistant (Richmond BC)

Settlement Program Assistant
(15hours/week)
Settlement Program Assistant assists and supports immigrants and refugees in their settlement and adaptation to life in Canada.
Responsibilities:
? Provide office administrative support
? Assist in collecting and compiling client satisfaction surveys
? Assist in collecting and compiling internal statistical reports
? Responsible for front desk service and handling immediate issues in response to client enquiries
? Recruit, train and monitor volunteers to support front desk reception and quick services
? Assist in organizing special events for newcomers
? Collect and maintain up-to-date Settlement information
? Assist in designing and producing Program Promotion materials
? Participate in internal and external meetings
? Attend professional development training
? Participate in community events
? Design program brochures and flyers
? Promote and disseminate settlement services through all possible channels
? Promote and market our services to the community and potential clients
? Provide a written report of activities in a timely manner
? Attend regular staff meetings, agency events and community events
? Assist with other activities as required
Qualifications:
Post-Secondary degree preferred with an experience in office management and administration
With at least 2 years administrative work experience
Experience in facilitation and conduct of training
Knowledgeable in handling and operating office equipments such as photocopier, fax and telephone.
Demonstrates capability in planning and orchestrating networking events and social gatherings.
Knowledge of settlement issues facing new immigrants
Must have strong customer service skills and demonstrated ability to liaise with community
organizations in Richmond
Must have experience in conducting various methods of outreach and marketing
Highly proficient in oral and written English
Very good written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills
Proficient in database management
Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications and use of internet
Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as the ability to work as part of a team
Culturally sensitive and open to developing and acquiring new skills
Must have a car and driving license
Available to work some evenings and weekend hours as needed
