Program Representative
Contract Part-time -- Two Consecutive Saturdays
Locations: Select Canadian Tire Locations across British Columbia

Summerhill is dedicated to developing, implementing and managing public engagement and market transformation programs that lead to measurable improvements in energy savings.

Currently we are seeking outgoing, energetic and dynamic individuals to join our team as a program representative for the Switch the 'Stat event at select Canadian Tire stores across British Columbia.

The largest component of this program will be educating Canadian Tire customers on thermostats and how to properly dispose of them. The program representatives will encourage customers to bring in their old thermostat for recycling, as well as purchase a new programmable thermostat.

Key responsibilities will include set up and facilitation of the event while providing customer service and education around responsible waste management.


Event dates are Saturday October 8th & Saturday October 15th, 2011 from 9:00am -- 4:15pm

Paid Training for this event will include: (October 3rd or 4th, 2011 -- to be confirmed shortly)
- 1 hour of training via webinar
- 1 hour of self study and online quiz

Responsibilities:
• Set-up of display area and facilitate the thermostat recycling event at Canadian Tire stores
• Proactively greet and engage store customers in discussions about the program
• Provide education regarding responsible management and recycling of old thermostats -- training to be provided
• Take part in a mandatory 1 hour of online self study
• Work two in store shifts Saturday October 8th and Saturday October 15th, 2011 from 9:00am -- 4:15 pm
• Complete administrative paperwork and daily/weekend reports as required (15 minutes per event day)
• Assist in management large crowds of program participants

Qualifications/Job Requirements:
• Outgoing personality -- must be able to proactively approach consumers and engage them on environmental issues
• Positive personality -- must have exceptional customer service and encourage/educate participants to continue to make positive changes after the campaign, on a day to day basis
• Be interested in, and genuinely concerned about waste management and/or other environmental issues
• Currently enrolled in, or completed post-secondary education or have promotional experience
• Detail-oriented, punctual, conscientious, a team player
• A friendly and professional manner and appearance
• Committed to providing exceptional customer service and be able to multi-task accordingly
• Ability to recognize significant or sensitive issues and when to escalate to the Program Manager
• Must set-up, assemble and move displays and other program materials
• Have working knowledge and access to standard MS office applications including Word and Excel
• Able to take part in a self directed online training program -- computer & Internet access is required
• Submit a photo of yourself at your event area with your timesheet after the event
