Senior Purchasing Agent (Vancouver)

Our public sector client has a contract opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Agent. The successful candidate will report to the Manager Strategic Sourcing and will be responsible for reviewing projects and providing recommendations as it pertains to vendor management. THIS WILL BE A CONTRACT FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS, WITH A STRONG POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION/GOING PERMANENT.
Mandatory Requirements
• Must have minimum of 5 years experience working as a Purchasing Agent.
• Must be working on obtaining their SCMP/CPP designation.
• Must be able to provide a recommendation to obtain best value based upon reviewing bids or quotes from vendors and how it relates to the client's strategy.
• Minimum of 3 years negotiation medium to high complex contracts.
• Understand contractual law and writing contracts.
Additional Requirements
• Good communication skills for both verbal and written.
• Be able to create PowerPoint presentations.
• Have an understanding of working in a public entity vs. private corporations.
• Assist in developing strategic plans.
Specialization and Skills:
IT Management Strategic Planning 5 - 7 years
Additional Requirements: Minimum of 5 years experience working as a Purchasing Agent (pref. in public sector) (5 - 7 years)
Must be working on obtaining their SCMP/CPP designation. Other related certifications are desirable. (Mandatory)
Minimum of 3 years negotiation medium to high complex contracts (2 - 4 years)
Understand contractual law and writing contracts (Proficient)
Successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic police record check (Mandatory)
Preference will be given to candidates who are incorporated. Please note we will not relocate candidates for this position.
