maxIT Healthcare is seeking a Senior Software Developer for a term project with the Provincial Health Services Authority. We are seeking a FTE for this role that will continue on with MaxIT after the completion of this initial engagement.

The Senior Software Developer will work with a team of developers, business analysts and report writers to maintain and continuously update an in house developed Microsoft.Net web based application that is in use across the province. The developer will follow all in house coding standards, utilize the custom software development kit and adhere to the software development processes.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain project plans and meets agreed goals while responding to changing priorities and program needs;
• Participate as a key member of the OHS-IT Group, providing input on development direction and the use of development technologies;
• Review and understand the in house Development Coding Standards and Guidelines documentation;
• Review business requirements and functional specifications to translate into production code utilizing the in house developed SDK and following development coding standards and conventions
• Update functional specifications as required to reflect all changes made to code
• Conduct code review with other team members to ensure standard practices and knowledge sharing

• Ensure development projects are tested in accordance with industry practices, ensuring high levels of product quality at all times;

Requirements and Qualifications:

• A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline
• minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience working the development of web and computer based systems ideally in healthcare or public sector agencies
• Microsoft based certification in OS and application development

• additional education in contemporary computer based OS and development languages is an asset.

• Must have technical skills:

• Proficiency with writing TSQL stored procedures, views and scripts (5 years experience)
• Proficiency with C# and .Net Framework 2.0 Class libraries (5 years experience)
• Experience with object oriented development principles and practices (5 years experience)
• Proficiency with HTML, DHTML, Javascript and AJAX concepts (5 years experience)

• Experience with source control systems, specifically Mercurial (3 years experience)

• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terminology
• Ability to understand and clearly relate technical information and principals of operation to other members of the organization
• Ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions, demonstrating time management skills
• Proven ability to plan and execute complex projects with stringent budgets and timelines

• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
