REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

PURPOSE: To play a key role in supporting and shaping InspireHealth's passionate and inspired culture and healing environment and manage InspireHealth's human resources and volunteer coordination needs.

Funded through BC Ministry of Health Services, corporate and foundational support as well as individual donations, InspireHealth programs are designed to support an evidence-informed wisdom-based (our patients' wisdom J) approach to health, healing and cancer recovery. Your Role
With the growing recognition of the importance of integrative care, InspireHealth is experiencing rapid growth and a wide range of HR initiatives will be developed and managed to support this growth in a manner consistent with the values of the organization to maintain and support our culture and healing environment. This exciting, newly created hands-on position is permanent and full-time. The Human Resources Generalist will assume responsibility for recruitment, compensation, compliance with legislation, implementation of Best Practices, employee relations and for Volunteer Coordination. You will be overseeing approximately 25 employees at present and over 50 volunteers. In your role as the team coach you will passionately live our cultural healing environment values and hold others accountable to do likewise.

Primary Responsibilities:

Human Resources:
Initial priority on recruitment for a rapidly expanding organization!
Responsible for full cycle recruiting and onboarding including: creation and implementation of a professional recruitment process, developing and posting job ads, position descriptions and classifying positions; advising on recruitment and selection strategies; reviewing resumes and arranging interviews; reference checking and preparation and delivery of employment offers
Implements human resources initiatives and programs
Develops, recommends, communicates and evaluates human resources policies and programs that meet operational and employee needs. Ensures compliance with legislation and promotion of the corporate culture and values. Ensures consistent and fair application of policies
Coordinates the performance management process
Administers compensation programs
Provides coaching to supervisors, department heads and staff concerning HR policies, practices, and performance evaluation
Handles all aspects of HR administration: tracking probations, new employee orientations, employee engagement, succession planning, employee recognition, organizational development and change management, collection of survey information, vacation, in lieu days, etc
Liaises with Accounting on payroll changes and personnel records
Administers benefits, handles sign-ups and changes, and answers employee questions. Coordinates with third party benefits carrier
Carries out other tasks as required

Volunteer Coordination:
Manages all elements relating to volunteers at InspireHealth
Assesses InspireHealth's needs (from high level management/board support through to clinical and administrative and operational support, including volunteer support for InspireHealth's volunteer coordination) and meets those needs through the proactive recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers
Proactively initiates systemic improvements as needed
Ensures volunteers are appropriately matched & trained for the position
Creates volunteer policies and procedures documentation if/where appropriate

Position Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Ability and Personal Characteristics):
Proven ability to successfully recruit for all staff positions which includes specialized positions and leadership positions
Proven ability for finding the optimal talent and cultural fit
Ability to make sound and timely decisions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Exceptional customer service, multi-tasking and organizational skills
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to contribute to the overall success of InspireHealth
Flexibility to meet constantly changing demands of the workplace
Computer literacy with strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Strong communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and foster cooperation
Experience in facilitation and conflict resolution
Highly self-responsible and accountable
Ability to hold others accountable
Comfortable with receiving and confident with giving direct feedback
Experience with volunteer coordination databases and software not required but an asset

Qualifications and Experience:
University degree, diploma or certification in Human Resources Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in a senior generalist Human Resources position in a fast-paced environment.
Several years of recruiting experience required, including knowledge of HR policies and procedures and best practice on recruitment and selection
Working knowledge and experience of labour code and legal requirements
High degree of judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
Background and experience in coaching an asset
Not-for-profit and health care sector experience an asset
Volunteer coordination experience or equivalent an asset
