Production Manager
The Production Manager oversees the design, production, and inventory management of a variety of online and offline publications produced by Dig Media. This full-time staff member is based in Dig's Vancouver office and reports to the Publisher. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Scheduling, trafficking, and supervising all phases of book and web site production from call to contribute to warehouse/traffic reporting.
• Ensuring book projects are delivered on time.
• Obtaining quotes / bids and analyzing costs.
• Purchasing materials and services from outside vendors.
• Archiving and managing digital files.
• Coordinating editorial and design freelancers.
• Managing author-prepared files, photos, and maps for new titles or revisions.
• Serving as an integral member of the publications team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• You will be considered for the position if you have a good combination of:
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in English/journalism or related field
• 3-5 years experience in production side of publishing, with progressively increasing responsibilities. Books publishing experience preferred.
• Proven track record in managing production, preferably with multiple projects published yearly. Experience managing the publication of web sites as well as books desired.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget Experience coordinating work of freelance editors, proofreaders, and designers
• Skill with text, photo, and illustration research and permissions
• Understanding of page layout applications such as QuarkXPress or InDesign
• Ability to create and manage production budgets
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic editing programs Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills; a team player and independent worker
• Meticulous eye for detail
• Physical abilities required: Work is performed in a standard office setting. Ability to operate desktop computers, phones, and other office equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
