The Sandman Hotel Group is a leading Canadian hospitality group headquartered in Vancouver, B.C. We are seeking a professional customer friendly IT Support Specialist. This is a role with possibilities for further advancement into IT for the right person and requires strong communication and troubleshooting skills. The Candidate will play a key role in Sandman’s commitment to create an enjoyable experience for all its guests.
Job Description.
• Ensure incoming calls are answered in a professional and courteous manner
• Provide first-level technical support to all Sandman properties, including troubleshooting and documentation of cases
• Escalate issues to 2nd and 3rd level support
• Daily monitoring of systems, responding and troubleshooting basic outages, updates and basic system administration
• Provide advice and guidance to properties on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues
• Ensure a timely resolution of property issues
• Document IT policies and procedures
Desired Experience and Skills
• Excellent customer relations and typing skills with professional phone etiquette
• Attention to detail and excellent organization and time-management skills
• Familiarization with various property management systems (PMS) would be an asset
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Degree /Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent working experience
• Cisco certification
• Possess a thorough understanding of principles of TCP/IP based networks, including network hardware, familiarity with switch and router installation, accelerators, displays, etc. maintenance, and management
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory including related technologies and standards like: DHCP, DNS, LDAP, CIFS, DFS, etc.
• General knowledge of Windows operating systems: Windows XP, 7 as well as Microsoft Exchange Email and AD Environments.
• Knowledge of computer hardware functions, PC/Notebook operation and mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets
• Excellent analytical problem solving skills, ability to troubleshoot and resolve application problems
• Ability to work as a team player
• Patience, flexibility and an ability to work under pressure
• Good sense of humor
