Description
Jobbing Machinist, Vertical & Horizontal Boring Mill Operator Machinist & Fitter positions are available in our New Westminster, BC manufacturing facility.
The Jobbing Machinist & Boring Mill Machinist's position utilizes skills and knowledge to perform and maintain all machining processes efficiently within manufacturing team. Depending on the position to be filled the principle equipment to be operated will be the lathes, milling machines, key seaters, radial drill, grinding machines and vertical & horizontal boring mills. However, the successful candidate must also have proficient skills operating other shop equipment.
The Fitter's position would encompass the assembly of several types of new machines as well as tear down & rebuilding of old machines.
Assets would include:
• Operation of all shop equipment.
• Enhances machinery performance and prevent machine downtime with routine preventative maintenance.
• Produce finished product from blueprints
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut to meet specifications on machine drawing
• Determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece
• Document and communicate manufacturing process actions and irregularities (e.g. continual tool changes, dirty collets, or machine alarms going off) to maintain continuity and decrease machine downtime
• Use precision measuring devices, perform quality checks.
• Capable of doing set-ups of capital equipment work as well as a wide variety of jobbing work quickly, safely, and efficiently.
• Operator must be able to execute work with minimal assistance, and in a timely fashion.
• Willingness to work overtime when required to meet customer needs
Qualifications - Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic math/trigonometry an asset
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills
• B.C. Machinist Certified
Physical Demands
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Comfort working in a manufacturing environment
• Standing for long periods of time
• Ability to climb up and down large machinery
• Repetitive motion
