TITLE: Security Officer
SITE: Chilliwack, BC
HOURS OF WORK/AVAILABILITY: On-Call, Casual (potential for full time)
RATE OF PAY: $12.70
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for the overall security of the centre including maintaining curfews, daily resident check in sheets, key control, and internal patrol of the buildings. The successful candidate will report to the Site Supervisor regarding resident and client concerns and will have a strong customer service focus.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Performs internal patrols and conducts daily resident counts;
• Maintains applicable logs and passes on data with any applicable reports;
• Proactively respond and resolve emergency situations and conflicts.
• Responsible for official visitor and resident logs, resident count sheets, inmate sign in and out sheets;
• Clearly write daily logs and reports of all incidents.
• Enforces and maintains inmate curfews;
• Effectively communication problems or concerns to the Site Supervisor.
• Possess excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
• Maintain ongoing knowledge of and perform all duties with high safety standards.
KEY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• To be successful you must have resided in Canada for the last five years and not been out of the country for more than six months at a time in order to complete required security clearances.
• Have demonstrated interest and experience in serving the public.
• Completion of BST course with a pass of 75% or higher.
• Completion of Occupational First Aid Level 1.
• Valid BC Driver's license required.
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience working on computers.
• Fluent English written, verbal and reading skills.
• Positive attitude with professional demeanour and strong interpersonal/customer service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail to fulfill job duties and incident report writing.
• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Physically fit, able to walk up stairs and be able to work various shifts.
