We are currently recruiting for an Animal Control Officer for the city of Chilliwack.
HOURS OF WORK
This is a casual position.
OVERVIEW
Animal Control Officers are responsible for upholding all of the city's Bylaws pertaining to animals.
SALARY
$15.20 per hour
JOB PROFILE
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
? Removing and transporting animals including aggressive dogs;
? Cleaning kennels and feeding animals being housed in the kennels;
? Removing animal carcasses that are on Chilliwack public property;
? Following-up with all necessary administrative responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful candidates will have:
• An understanding of dog behaviour and body language;
• An understanding of different dog breeds and their traits;
• The ability to learn, understand, interpret, communicate, and enforce the city's Bylaws that pertain to animals;
• The ability to deal with aggressive dogs;
• The ability to handle stressful situations;
• Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills;
• Strong communication skills both written and spoken with the ability to provide clear, detailed documentation;
• A clean criminal background.
