Systems Engineer/Administrator (Vancouver)

This is a full time, permanent position, located in downtown Vancouver. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated with proven skills and experience in Systems and Network configuration and troubleshooting. This role will involve design, implementation and maintenance of technical solutions for internal, hosted and third party services. We require a strong communicator with excellent planning and diagnostic skills who can leverage their prior experience with WAN/LAN, Server 2008, SQL2008, II7, Sharepoint and Exchange.
Responsibilities:
- Design, planning and implementation of highly available hardware and software solutions to improve reliability and supportability of existing internal and hosted systems
- Work closely with our development team to determine platform requirements for in-development solutions
- Recommend, design, implement and deliver platforms which adhere to industry best-practices and ensure the successfully delivery of hosted software solutions
- Perform regular maintenance on Internal and Hosted systems including patch management, backups and proactive issue identification / resolution.
- Provide back-up support for Internal IT Systems and primary, on-call support for hosted, production systems
- Proactive identification and implementation of methods to improve and streamline existing systems
Must Have Skills:
- 3 to 5+ years of Systems Engineering industry experience
- Broad Knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, Sharepoint, IIS7 and IBM or Dell Servers and Workstations.
- Troubleshooting experience with Network Infrastructure Hardware including Switches, Firewalls and Load Balancers
- Proven client engagement consulting and implementation track record
- Excellent communication skills
- Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
