Senior UNIX Systems Administrator for 24/7 environment (Vancouver)

Reporting to the The VP of Data Center Operations, the Senior Systems Administrator (UNIX/Red Hat Linux) is responsible for the IT environment through monitoring and maintaining all systems, networks and infrastructure. The Senior Systems Administrator will play a critical role in the development and design of the IT infrastructure into the future as well as ensuring effective day to day operations.
This role will require the Administrator to maintain the infrastructure to ensure 24/7 operations that will support a highly transactional business with large volume traffic. The Senior Administrator will assist in the deployment, documentation and maintenance a variety of different software, monitor and manage infrastructure, coordinate and execute projects as well as provide some scheduled on call support. Some travel will also be required in this role.
The chosen candidate will have 6+ years of UNIX system administration and 4+ years of Red Hat Linux administration. This role will require significant experience with sys Logging and UNIX account Management. The Senior Administrator will also have significant experience with PERL and shell scripting and experience supporting mission critical applications and Oracle Databases.
Other required experience includes: Experience with NetApp technologies, Veritas NetBackup, Strong Knowledge of network topologies and protocols, MySQL, Apache/Tomcat or IBM WebSphere and a very strong understanding of system virtualization VMWare, ESX server.
The Senior Systems Administrator must also have a solid understanding of disaster recovery implementations, information security concepts, control mechanisms, counter-measures and recovery methods as well as the ability to lead technical discussions and projects in an organized manner. Strong interpersonal skills and Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are a must.
