Python Tools Developer (Vancouver)

Position summary:
The Python Tools Developer who will be responsible for the building and maintaining of python tools to interface with our data warehouse
Responsibilities of the Python Tools Developer:
• Developing, maintaining, and enhancing our python data warehouse code base, including custom ETL, queuing and Hadoop loading components
• Ensuring all components are highly scalable
• Ensuring all components are correctly packaged, are maintainable and monitored.
• Delivering components using best coding practises and modular design
• Working closely with members of the our Data Warehouse and Live Operations teams to troubleshoot issues as they arise
Essential:
• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent program
• Excellent Python skills (2+ years)
• Experience with designing highly scalable, highly modular business critical systems
• A compulsion to test and automate
• Experience with SQL and database design, specifically MySQL
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Strong skills in statistics and analytics
• Has initiative, and is able to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision
• Proven documentation skills
• Previous experience with in data warehousing system is desirable
• Previous experience with Hadoop and/or Hive is desirable
