Carpenter - WorkSafeBC
The Facilities department is seeking a service-oriented team player to join their team as a carpenter. The successful candidate will be responsible for the construction, removal and repair of office walls and ceilings, partitions, doors, closets, etc. on WorkSafeBC and area offices’ premises as required by the Manager, Operations and Maintenance. The carpenter will construct, finish and install a variety of cabinets, wood fixtures and furniture; dismantle, move and reinstall modular furniture set-ups; and perform a variety of other general carpentry work.

As a qualified candidate, you are able to:
• Install, maintain and repair all types of furniture/millwork and building components
• Fabricate and produce a cutting list for all types of furniture/millwork and building components
• Keep up with all pertinent technology and policy changes related to the carpentry trade
• Prioritize, schedule and monitor a workload independently and within a team, to meet desired objectives using established procedures in a safe and timely manner
• Evaluate and analyze a variety of technical information, problems and client needs and take timely, appropriate action to ensure a safe, comfortable environment
• Work overtime on an as-needed basis
• Be on call 24 hours per day on a rotational basis.

You possess the following experience and educational background:
• Grade 12 diploma
• BC or Interprovincial Trade Certification as a carpenter or cabinet maker
• Minimum 6 – 9 years recent experience as a qualified carpenter, including experience in cabinet making and millwork
• Knowledge of building trades’ functions, drawings and specifications, as well as knowledge of inventory control and budgetary and estimating matters
• General knowledge of basic computer applications
