Systems Administrator (Richmond)

We are looking for a talented System Administrator to join our team in Richmond. The System Administrator is responsible for the ongoing monitoring, maintenance and administration of our internal corporate network. They are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of our Windows Server systems, as well as providing excellent customer service and system support to all departments within the organization.
Scope of the Role:
• Install, administer, and troubleshoot the full suite of Windows products, including but not limited to Exchange Server, SQL Server, VPN and mail servers (IIS-based and others)
• Administer and troubleshoot all core network components, including all Cisco firewalls, switches and routers.
• Provide technical expertise to ensure the successful operation of the internal corporate environment.
• Perform monitoring of all TTC corporate applications, network and other related devices that used to support our environment.
• Ensure strong security is in place at all times, including the installation of Microsoft security patches, the correct configurations of web servers and application servers and ensure security is inherent in all network builds from the ground up.
• Perform hardware and software installations, upgrades and migrations as required.
• Manage all network backups and restores.
• Staging and testing of all production servers.
• Ensure that all tickets are properly documented, prioritized and completed according to our Service Level Agreements with our customers.
• Monitor and update disaster recovery plan were required
• Manage and maintain all EDI and other business to business trading interfaces.
• Acquires and maintains knowledge of internal information systems; help evolve system features, functionality and usability to support company requirements
• Provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week cell phone support.
Qualifications/Experience:
• Intimate knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 server systems understands paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts), can use performance analysis to tune systems.
• Solid working experience with IIS5/6, ASP.NET based websites.
• Strong knowledge and experience in administration, support and troubleshooting Mail servers (IIS-based and others), DNS servers and intimate knowledge of the SMTP protocol and email RFC.
• Strong knowledge of network topologies, network protocols, internet technologies and Cisco routers and switches.
• A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of consistent network-wide file system layouts, high traffic/high availability networking concepts like load balancing, clustering
• Strong OS and application scripting skills
• Experience monitoring web server performance.
• Strong understanding of database support, operation and MS SQL server administration.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent analysis and problem solving.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and deal with multiple concurrent tasks.
• Adaptability and flexibility.
Education/Experience:
• Education: MCSE with focus on SQL Server and Exchange Server administration required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field would be an asset. A+ hardware certification an asset.
• Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in a directly related position providing the function as outlined in the job description.
• Technical: In addition to above, has experience with Advanced SQL code, Stored Procedures as well as VB and ASP.
