full time Cisco Network Administrator (Surrey)

Are you a talented Intermediate Network Administrator with experience in Unix or Linux Systems Administration?

We are on the lookout for a talented and professional Network and Systems Administrator to play hands on role in assisting with build projects and operational support.

This role is a combination of both Network and Systems Administration, and is broken down into the following:

Cisco Network Administration (75%)
- Building/administrating firewalls, routers, UPS
- Over the phone trouble shooting of escalated technical network problems
- Working with 3rd party vendors to ensure problem resolution
- Documentation of Network Designs and diagrams
- Assisting the Senior Network Engineer with support and project initiatives

Unix System Administration (25%)
- Basic System monitoring
- User access management
- Printer management/set up etc

This position would be best suited to someone who has approximately 5 years commercial experience and is looking for a position where he/she can develop their skill set by being mentored by Senior Administrators.

Technical requirements include:
- B’Sc - Computer Science degree
- Circa 5 years related working experience centric to Cisco Network environments
- LAN/WAN systems and Firewall technologies
- VOIP
- CISCO networking technologies
- Basic knowledge of system administrator Unix/Linux commands/concepts (e.g. smit, mount, NFS) an asset
- Knowledge of basic disk RAID concepts

Excellent and clear communication skills are required as you will be directly conversing with end users on a daily basis and your self-direction, resourcefulness and initiative will be used on a daily basis.

Additionally, applicants must also possess a BC Drivers License and have a car as travel to sites throughout the lower mainland may be required at times.
