Position Overview
„X Design and create test plans and cases for COTS (Commercial, off-the-shelf) software applications at a system level;
„X Design and create scripts to automate the testing process;
„X Install, configure and administer operating systems, database servers and web servers in the test server environment;
„X Report software defects in a clear and concise manner;
„X Apply a good understanding of current technical environments and departmental standards relating to the Quality Assurance process;
„X Provide after hours support to production systems and/or program development as required;
„X Liaise with users on approved projects in order to define specifications;
„X Perform functional and detailed analysis on assigned projects;
„X Liaise with Operations in order to effect changes to production environments and to resolve minor software related faults;
„X Communicate with users to define specifications for assigned projects and resolve software related faults;
„X Provide regular status reports to senior departmental staff.
Position Education, Experience and Technical Requirements
„X University degree in a relevant discipline or a two-year college diploma in a computer program supplemented by industry recognized professional courses; or demonstrated equivalent experience and training in lieu of diploma;
„X Experience with development lifecycle of large software projects, especially usability studies, beta testing, and quality assurance;
„X Experience with testing COTS (Commercial, off-the-shelf) applications;
„X Experience with traditional QA methods such as white/black box, performance, regression and acceptance testing;
„X Five or more years of experience in a quality assurance role, or equivalent related experience within a software development team;
„X Knowledge of various operating systems including Win XP/2003;
„X Ability to work efficiently and estimate tasks within the confines of a project schedule;
„X The successful candidate possesses superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
„X Excellent analytical skills.
Desirable Requirements
„X Self motivation and attention to detail;
„X Ability to work within definite parameters and time frames;
„X Ability to learn quickly;
„X Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment;
„X Knowledge of XML;
„X Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later;
„X Experience with Oracle 8.x or later.
