Volunteer Services/Kettle Coordinator (Maple Ridge)

The Volunteer Services/Kettle Coordinator plans, directs and monitors volunteers within the facility to assist residents/clients and staff with a range of duties as assigned and ensures the smooth running of the Kettle Campaign, maximizing donations and coordinating recruitment of volunteers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
-Liaises with educational institutions and volunteer bureaus to promote volunteerism within the facility and attract applicants;
-Recruits, orientates, trains, evaluates, recognizes and assigns work in concert with collective agreements and Salvation Army Territorial Standards; submits incident reports (volunteers, student placements);
-Matches volunteer’s skills with work/activity needed within collective agreements and Power of Care consent; prepares task lists for volunteers for guidance;
-Develops and maintains an appropriate record keeping system;
-May assist in the recruitment of Kettle Workers (employees and volunteers), assisting with orientation, performance management, discipline and payroll processing;
-Coordinates the schedule for kettle staff, and responds to emergency absences, etc.;
-Fosters and maintains positive working relationships with kettle sites, addressing conflicts/issues as they arise;
-May deliver and pick-up kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations;
-May hosts at Kettle sites, as required, to ensure necessary coverage for breaks, etc.;
-Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets, as required, for local/divisional/territorial offices;
-Ability and willingness to work within the mission, vision and values of The Salvation Army Caring Place.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must have:
-Completed up to two (2) years of community College;
-Thorough knowledge of The Salvation Army;
-The ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure;
-The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and cope with interruptions;
-Willingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;
-One year but less than three years of prior related experience including gerontology experience or exposure and experience with volunteer programs.
This position is Permanent Part-time working 15 hrs/week increasing up to 40 hrs/week for November & December; may include evenings and weekends.
