This a exciting ooportunity to take on a primary role of "caregiver" in a young woman's life. This is a key role in a collaborative team approach to the building of a "good life" for "H". You will live with the individual in her home and be attentive to the realization of "noramlized needs" for a 30 year old woman; who requires the support of our agency at this point in her life.
The successful candidate will need to understand H's extraordinary gifts and challenges and to make accommodations for what can be difficult about living with H. We are looking for someone who recognizes the need to commit to this young woman.
The candidate should be in good health, be a non-smoker and have their own transportation. You do not necessarily have to have experience within community living, but do need to be emotionally strong, resilient, and very capable. You should be eagar to embrace the challenge of assisting H at this point in her life.
Good coping skills in relation to your own emotional regulation would be important for your own self care. A a good personal support network is key to maintaining your health.
As a Cornerstone in H's support network, it will be crucial to be an honest communicator and to be willing to take time to communicate often with the key people in H's life. A collaborative style of working is also important to working as part of a team. You must be willing to work very closely with this support network that consists of family, friends and H’s supporters.
This position is best suited to a Single Caregiver, however, a couple would be considered, based on a "goodness of fit" or "right relationship".
Compensation will be a tax free salary with room and board. The Caregiver will seek out their own respite, with the approval of H, family and network.

Driving requirements:
Driver's license (Class 5); Use of personal vehicle for work
Special training or experience required:
Dealing with challenging behavior; Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)
Preferred training or experience:
Knowledge of Aquired Brain Injuries would be of benefit. Also, work or life experiences that give you perspective on understanding segregation vs inclusion, as this is key to your facilitative role.
