Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, the Payroll Systems Specialist is responsible for the Company's payroll systems, and relieving for the Payroll Supervisors in the department. Coordinates the staff and resources required to complete the gross to net pay functions. Provides application support analysis for all payroll information systems, user developed production tools, and application-specific hardware requirements to ensure ongoing and effective operation of the systems in support of the corporate payroll function. Reviews software code and defines required changes. Completes testing for system updates and modifications. Administers the software maintenance and enhancement budget.
Qualifications
A diploma in computer systems technology from a recognized institute of technology. Requires 3 years previous experience maintaining a large corporate payroll system in a complex unionized environment. Experience must include writing and/or defining software programming code, managing systems upgrade and modification projects, and determining system problems and identifying solutions. PeopleSoft Payroll and HR Experience is mandatory.

An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. Once in the process, testing will be used to confirm this suitability and all applicants will be required to obtain an overall pass mark of 70% to demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in the position.
An applicant's overall score is comprised of the interview score, and the required pass mark is 70%. The questions asked in the interview will be based on the following list of competencies: Technical Skills; Analytical Skills; Interpersonal Skills; Communication Skills; Motivation & Initiative Skills; and Organization Skills.
Thorough reference checks would be completed, including from the applicant's current supervisor.
