HR/Payroll Assistant (Casual Position)
Tree Island Industries Ltd. is North America’s largest nail producer and a leading steel wire and fabricated wire products manufacturer in Western Canada and the Western United States. Our head office, located in Richmond, employs over 350 employees. We are currently recruiting for an HR/Plant Payroll Assistant to work on a casual basis to provide coverage for vacation, sick leave and unexpected absences.
Responsibilities include:
• inputting employee timecards in our Payroll System,
• calculating and processing production incentives,
• inputting absenteeism information,
• updating employee records,
• processing & distributing payroll reports,
• processing union dues & other miscellaneous deductions, and
• general office duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• 2-3 years previous payroll experience in a unionized environment,
• excellent data entry skills,
• working knowledge of general accounting practices,
• highly proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills,
• ability to multi-task,
• strong attention to detail,
• excellent verbal & written communication skills,
• the ability to work quickly and accurately, and
• experience working with a Time & Attendance Management System would be an asset.
The successful candidate must be flexible and available to work with minimal notice. A comprehensive training period will be provided. This position would be suitable for someone who does not want full time work but is available to work 2-4 days per month, plus 4-6 weeks vacation coverage per year and other ad-hoc work that may come up.
