Budget/Financial Analyst, Short-term
A highly analytical person for a central short-term (approx. 9 months) role in finance
You will be responsible to the Manager, Budgeting & Forecasting or to the Manager, Financial Reporting and Analysis, for preparing various complex and comprehensive financial analyses and reports, contributing to the annual budget process and maintaining computer databases.
Your role will see you:
participating in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
analyzing and requesting CMHC funds under the Canada-BC Affordable Agreement and Social Housing Agreement and preparing associated year-end financial statements
preparing the financial and cost/benefit analyses of current and future initiatives
providing consulting services to staff on managing, analyzing, reporting and verifying financial data.
You are an appropriately qualified graduate who has a high degree of understanding of accounting processes based on at least the 3rd year level of a recognized accounting program or equivalencies. Along with 5 years’ experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and/or reporting in a computerized environment, you have knowledge of:
budgeting and financial reporting functions, preferably within the government and non-profit environments
financial, accounting and reporting systems, processes and controls.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, is assumed; conversance with mission-critical corporate enterprise applications such as JDE and CPS would be an asset.
Your attention to detail, especially working with numbers and dollars, is very strong, as is your ability to think conceptually and strategically, build relationships and exert influence.
