Reporting to the General Manager, the Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and administering all of the day-to-day financial operations of the studio. As head of the Finance Department, you will oversee two direct reports including a Staff Accountant and a Buyer.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and quarterly financial forecasts for all Relic projects plus Relic Cost Centre
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget for all Relic projects plus Relic Cost Centre
- Meet with Producers and department managers monthly to discuss variance reports, forecasts, etc.
- Provide timely, accurate financial information to GM and ensure GM has a thorough understanding of the studio’s finances at any given time
- Provide accurate and timely monthly variance reporting to Relic and THQ Corporate
- Oversee semi-monthly payroll for all Canadian-paid employees including payroll tax remittances and T4 preparation at year end
- Oversee procurement and purchasing of all goods and services
- Reconciliation of all deductions and taxable benefits as it relates to Employee Benefits
- In conjunction with HR, monthly reconciliation of employee-paid premiums for RBC Critical Illness and Long-Term Disability Insurance
- Oversee Accounts Payable including vendor invoices, independent contractors, corporate credit cards, etc.
- Maintain all aspects of Relic business reporting and remittance with regard to Revenue Canada and Ministry of Provincial Revenue for BC (corporate tax instalments, PST self-assess tax remittances, WCB remittance, GST filing, Statistics Canada filing, business license renewal, payroll taxes, etc.)
- Establish and implement short and long-range finance departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal budgetary reporting requirements including GAAP
- Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to effectively accomplish department’s goals and objectives
- Liaise with THQ Corporate Tax department and PWC on preparation of Corporate Tax Return
- Manage and prepare SRED data for R&D tax credit application
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years in a management-level finance position with forecasting/budgeting and supervisory responsibility
- Relevant post-secondary education
Assets:
- Accounting Designation (CGA, CMA or CA)
- Gaming industry experience
- Passion for gaming
