Intermediate Accountant (Downtown)

Seaspan Ship Management Ltd. is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the goal of the Intermediate Accountant is to produce an accurate general ledger and monthly reporting package as per our timelines and will focus on the public company, Seaspan Corporation. This person will work with team members to deliver reports and analysis, complete reconciliations, prepare and review of journal entries and analyze actual expenses as compared to budget. The Intermediate Accountant will contribute to working papers, prepare reports, and participate in projects as needed.
An important part of this job is financial analysis, intercompany reconciliation, and financial reporting.
Qualifications:
• A combination of education and experience e.g. 5+ years of accounting experience in a publicly traded company and level 4 CGA.
• Strong communication skills (written and oral)
• Strong analytical skills
• Sound knowledge of account reconciliations including resolution of reconciling items
• Advanced Excel knowledge and proficiency in MS Word and Outlook
• General aptitude for computer systems (e.g. JD Edwards and Simply Accounting).
• Financial statement preparation and treasury experience an asset.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines under strict time constraints. Accuracy and attention to detail are key to success in this role. The successful candidate must be adaptable, self-motivated and have a strong work ethic.
