IT Systems Support Network Specialist

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate who considers this role will be responsible for the following tasks:
- handle day-to-day hardware, software and network support requests in a courteous and friendly manner;
- provide diagnostics for hardware such as servers, storage systems, hard drives, tape units, workstations, switches, etc.
- assist with and be available for disaster recovery preperation and critical support situations;
- monitor and provide on-going maintenance of networks, servers and systems;
- keep a timely and detailed record of all incidents as per IT department best practices, maintaining complete documentation of problem cause, impact and resolution
- prioritize problems, troubleshoot and exercise problem-solving skills;
- communicate with management about helpdesk issues;
- develop an understanding of the user environment and maintain technical knowledge;
- handle equipment bookings and setups (laptops, projectors, PDAs, USBs, video conferencing);
- maintain network diagrams and documentation;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, lawyers and staff
- help maintain and develop the network.
Qualification:
This position will provide technical support and troubleshoot technical issues for the firm’s team of lawyers and support staff. The IT Systems Network Specialist will have a strong combination of practical experience and education with certifications in relevant areas. Candidates should be qualified in the following areas:
- appropriate certifications or have successfully completed relevant courses;
- minimum 2-3 years’ experience working in a helpdesk environment;
- strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with capacity to accurately identify and assess problems before providing accurate solutions;
- ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktop PCs;
- experience supporting desktops, laptops, Blackberry devices and printers;
- experience supporting various legal applications such as document management systems, FileSite and Summation;
- practical experience with Microsoft-based products such as MS Office, Outlook, FileSite, Word 2003 (with customizations), XP and Vista, IIS, IAS and Office products
