Overview:
Funded by the Ministry of Citizens' Services & Ministry Responsible for Multiculturalism and Public Affairs Bureau, the Multicultural Elder & Youth Education Project is a seven month project that seeks to promote multiculturalism and provide tools for youth and seniors to combat racism. This will be accomplished through two distinct workshop series’. The first of which will be senior led anti-racism workshops for youth and the second will train seniors to record their oral histories. The Multicultural Elder and Youth Education Project Coordinator will implement the following:

• Recruit oral historians from previous 411 Seniors oral history project and secure participation in youth workshop series
• Create teaching/discussion guide for youth presentation series
• Train oral history volunteers with abovementioned resources and create workshop timetables and materials
• Coordinate public and media relations campaigns for the project
• Coordinate and conduct four volunteer run youth anti-racism workshops
• Create training materials for seniors oral history workshops,
• Coordinate and Conduct four multicultural seniors oral history workshops
• Analyze and collate data from participant surveys and create anti-racism fact sheet, disseminate information throughout the community
• Transcribe 4 oral histories from multicultural seniors oral history workshop series and upload to 411 website

QUALIFICATIONS
• A relevant degree or diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Several years experience working with immigrants and refugees
• Experience with project/community development and event planning
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Strong computer skills

Position: 7 month contract
Hours: 28 hours a week

Position Start Date: August 17th
Salary: $21/hr (including wages and benefits)
