Job Posting: Communications Coordinator
EVA BC is seeking a Communications Coordinator to work 4 – 5 days per week. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
EVA BC is a non-profit umbrella organization for over 200 provincially funded programs across BC that support survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, child abuse and criminal harassment. Our mandate includes:
• providing tools and resources, policy and legal analysis, and training and networking opportunities to frontline workers and administrators,
• fostering collaboration and coordination among sectors at local, regional and provincial levels (e.g., victim support services, police, Crown, judiciary, health, child protection, education),
• educating the government, public and other stakeholders on the needs of survivors of violence and the programs that serve them.

Responsibilities:
• Compile, write and edit text for funding proposals, funding reports, Board reports, annual reports, the website, the tri-annual newsletter, brochures, press releases and other documents, as necessary.
• Provide consultation and editing for EVA BC staff who are preparing documents such as backgrounders, discussion papers, manuals, handbooks and training materials.
• Produce communications materials that are clear, accurate and accessible.
• Ensure that materials are appropriate for the intended audience, whether that be frontline anti-violence workers, partners, funders, policy analysts or the general public.
• Liaise with web/graphic designers and printers in the production of documents.
• Work in a collaborative manner, incorporating input from the Executive Director, EVA BC staff and content experts.
Qualifications:
• Experience in communications, preferably in a non-profit, social justice agency.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely with correct grammar and spelling.
• Ability to write about controversial topics in an accessible, diplomatic manner.
• Experience managing the production of documents, including: communicating with content experts and designers; working with contributors to revise content; editing and proofreading; and printing and distribution.
• Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines and last-minute changes.
• Excellent computer skills, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working in a Mac environment would be an asset.
• Strong feminist and anti-oppression analysis.
• Experience with, or an understanding of, violence against women and children would be a strong asset.
