Social Worker for Immigrant/Refugee Women-Bilingual French/English (Vancouver)

Job Offer: Social Worker for women (bilingual French/English)
Salary: $22 to $24 per hour, depending of experience.
Schedule: 35 hours per week
Contract: August 1st, 2009 to March 31, 2011 with possibility of renewal
Main duties:
• Provide social services to French speaking women.
• Provide crisis intervention services.
• Guide clients through bureaucracies and, if necessary, accompany them to appointments (financial help, housing, medical appointments, legal aid, therapy, etc.)
• Create individual case plans with each client and/or family.
• Provide follow-up of each client, provide assistance and encouragement in realizing objectives established in the case plan.
• Explore issues and barriers and help clients evaluate clients evaluate problems and find solutions.
• Evaluate the efficiency of the case plan with each client and assist in new goals as needed.
• Collaborate with other English and French organization working with the same clientele.
• Promote our services in the French Community and to potential clients.
• Prepare monthly activities report for the Director.
• Any other tasks related to the program or to the activities of La Boussole.
• Participate in the intake and information of all gathering clients of La Boussole in collaboration with other employees.
The social Worker is based at La Boussole but will also have to accompany clients outside of the office and meet our partners.
Qualifications
• Social Worker University degree (bachelor, master)
• Work experience in counseling and in case managing
• Knowledgeable of the immigration process in BC and Canada.
• Work experience with immigrants and refugees preferred
• Able to work in a team
• Computer literate.
• Bilingual English/French
